We traveled up to Oxford to take on this quality OAA Red team.

Great first meet!  Veterans were in great form and the rookies did a great job.

First Place Finishers:

50 Free:  John Cook

400 Free Relay:  John Cook, Colin Czarnik, Mason Solecki, Tim Stanley

Man of the Week #1: Sophomore Julio Jaime. Working hard at practice. Super coachable! He had two monster time drops at Oxford from his time trials times (-9.83) in 50 Free and (-18.73) in 100 Free.

 

Man of the Week #2: Sophomore Weston Schroeder. Training hard! Never misses a repeat! He had two time drops at Oxford from his time trials times (-1.12) in 50 Back and (-.63) in 50 Free.

 

Man of the Meet (Oxford) Junior Mason Solecki. Both of Mason's individual swims in the 100 Fly and 100 Back were MISCA and Oakland County Automatic times.

 

This week we will host Avondale on THUR for a 6pm meet at the ROMS pool.

Another busy week at the pool!

 

On Thursday we hosted division rival Troy and had our Senior Night.

Man of the Meet (Troy) #1:  Junior Noel King.  Noel  had an impressive drop in his 200 Free (2.94) and a drop in his 100 Free (.76).

 

Man of the Meet (Troy)#2:  Junior Jack Catchpole.  Jack has been a huge help at every home meet.  Always reliable.  Never takes a race off.

 

Men of the Week:  The Seniors.  Last dual meet for Luke, John, Jack, Kyle, and Nick.  Great boys that will become great men.

 

We are now entering the championship part of the season.  We are getting ready for taper.  Looking forward to seeing the boys rest and race.

 

OAA Championships will be FEB 26, 27, and 28.  All days start at 6pm at ROMS.

We had quite the busy week at the pool.

 

On Tuesday we hosted Stoney Creek from the OAA Red Division for our annual Pink Meet.

 

The boys did a great job decorating their pink caps for Tuesday.

Hayden Forsythe's 199.55 diving scored put him into 5th place on our Top 10 List. 

 

Man of the Meet #1 (Stoney):  Freshman Chase Drouillard.  He went 4/4 on best times:  He had drops of 200 IM (1.43), 50 Breast (.10), 500 Free (58.59), and 100 Free (.67).  Great job Chase!

 

Man of the Meet #2 (Stoney): Sophomore Nathan Babbie.  He was not feeling well and still managed to have a nice 1.45 second drop in the 50 Free on Tuesday.

 

Oakland County Diving Championships were held on Friday at Waterford Mott.  Both Ben and Hayden qualified for the meet.

 

Oakland County Swimming Championships were held on Saturday at Waterford Mott.  Our qualifiers were:

Man of the Week #1:  Senior Kyle Pyykkonen,  Had a nice 2.39 second drop in the 200 Free on Tuesday.  He is also doing a great helping us 'win the deck' every meet with cheering on his teammates.  

 

Man of the Week #2Senior John Cook.  After Saturday's Oakland County Meet, John earned his way to his fourth state championships for his high school career.  Very impressive achievement!

 

Next week we will wrap up the dual meet portion of our season.  We will host division rival Troy on Thursday for our Senior Night.

 

On Saturday our qualifiers will swim at Calvin College in the MISCA (Michigan Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association) Meet.

* Mason Solecki's 100 Fly was a New ROHS School Record and it also brokle a 38 year old pool record at Athens.

 

I would like to take a moment to thank Athens for being classy and recognizing Mason's accomplishment.

 

Man of the Meet (ATHENS) #1:  Sophomore Colin Czarnik.  Colin had a nice drop in his 200 Free (2.10) and he had an important first place finish in the 500 Free.

 

Man of the Meet (ATHENS) #2:  THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM.  Win the pool.  Win the boards.  Win the deck.  Awesome performances from the whole squad.

 

Man of the Week #1:  Sophomore Noah Hewson.  He is starting to really hit his groove.  Nice drops in the 50 Back (.22) and the 100 Back (.86) on THUR.

 

Man of the Week #2:  Sophomore Kyle Strong.  Getting the job done in training.  Had a strong drop of 3.13 seconds in the 100 Free on THUR.

 

Next week will be busy.  On Tuesday we will host OAA Red Division team Stoney Creek for our annual PINK OUT THE POOL.  At this meet, the boys will wear pink caps with names to honor those that have battled cancer.

 

On Friday, Oakland County Diving Championships will start at 6pm at Waterford Mott.

 

On Saturday, Oakland County Swimming Championships will start at 12pm at Waterford Mott.

Mason Solecki's time in the 100 Fly was a MHSAA State Qualifying time.

 

Man of the Meet (FERN) #1:  Junior Kyle Gordon.  Kyle had a 1st place finish in the 200 Free with a drop of 10.47.  He followed that up with a .47 drop in the 100 Back.

 

Man of the Meet (FERN) #2:  Freshman Xander Ballew. He had a huge drop of 1:38 in the 500 Free.  He also had a nice 5.18 drop in the 50 Fly.

 

Man of the Week:  Sophomore Bailey Needham.  He has really kicked it up a notch with his training.  On THUR he had drop in the 200 IM (2.94) and a first place in the 100 Breast!  

 

Next Thursday we travel to division rival Troy Athens.

In Diving, Hayden Forythe qualified for the Oakland County meet, and he qualified for the MHSAA Diving Regionals that will ne held in March.

 

In the 500 Free, Tim Stanley got a Oakland County qualifying time.

 

Man of the Meet #1 (SFLD):  Freshman Aden Dowdell.  He had a 5.75 dropin the 200 IM and a 2.77 drop in the 100 Free where he took 1st place.

 

Man of the Meet #2 (SFLD): Senior Jack Merten.  Jack had drops in both the 200 Free (2.31) and the 100 Free (1.26)!

 

Man of the Meet #3 (SFLD): Sophomore Brady Curtin.  Brady had a drop in the 50 Free (.83) and a MONSTER drop in the 500 Free (25.98)!

 

Man of the Week #1:  Sophomore Charles Matthews.  He is working hard and had drops in the 100 Free (.15) and 100 Breast (5.2) on Thursday.

 

Man of the Week #2: Sophomore Noah London.  Noah had a drop in the 50 Free (1.28) on Thursday.  His CLUTCH performance came with his stepping up to the challenge and nailing a get out swim at the end of WED practice!

 

We will host Ferndale on Thursday, January 23rd.

In the 100 Back, Mason Solecki swam a state qualifying time and SET A NEW SCHOOL RECORD.

 

In Diving, Ben O'Neill qualified for State Diving Regionals on March 5th.

 

Man of the Meet #1 (HP):  Freshman Luca Ceccacci.  Luca had nice drops in the 50 Free (.41) and the 100 Free (9.92)!

 

Man of the Meet #2 (HP):  Freshman Trevor Smigelski.  Trevor had impressive drops in the 200 IM (8.65) and the 100 Breast (3.21).

 

Man of the Meet #1 (Ford):  Sophomore Matt Kaley.  Matt had quality drops in the 200 IM (4.09) and the 100 Fly (.56).

 

Man of the Meet #2 (Ford):  Freshman Aiden Davis.  Aiden had MONSTER drops in the 50 Free (4.01) and 100 Free (10.89).

 

Man of the Meet #3 (Ford):  Senior Luke Catchpole.  Luke had a drop in the 50 Free (.19), with a HUGE 1st place.  He also anchored the 200 Free Relay from behind and got us a 1st place finish.

 

On Thursday, we traveled to West Bloomfield to take on another OAA Division rival.

Man of the Meet #1 (WB):  Junior Tim Stanley.  Tim's 200 Free was a drop of 4.16, first place finish, and an Oakland County qualifying time!

 

Man of the Meet #2 (WB):  Freshman Josh Brezenski.  Josh had nice drops in the 200 IM (5.21) and the 500 Free (2.72).

 

 

Man of the Week #1:  Junior Aidan Duhl.  Aidan had nice drops in the 50 Free (.48), 100 Fly (2.8), and the 100 Free (4.13) this week.

 

Man of the Week #2:  Sophomore Ari Szarafinski.  Ari on TUES had drops in the 100 Back (.96) and the 200 IM (2.82).  On THUR drops in 100 Back (1.6) and 50 Free (1.6). 4/4 for individual swims!

 

Man of the Week #3:  Freshman Toby Buckheim.  Toby on TUES had drops in the 100 Free (4.07) and the 50 Free (1.55).  On THUR drops in 100 Back (4.04) and 50 Free (.6). 4/4 for individual swims!

 

Next Thursday, we will host Southfield A & T.  It will be our PARENT NIGHT.

Man of the Meet #1 (Avondale) - Sophomore Ben O'Neill.  Ben had 3 first place finishes on THUR (200 Medley Relay, 200 FR Relay, and diving).  His score of 190.10 secured him an automatic qualification to the Oakland County Championships.

 

Man of the Meet #2 (Avondale):  Senior Nick Wickerham.  Nick, who was sick this week, still had some great swims on THUR.  He had drops in the 50 Back (6.1), 50 Free (7.2), and 100 Back (4.5).

 

Man of the Week #1::  Sophomore Hayden Forsyth.  Working hard in the water and on the board.  He had a drop in the 50 Free (1.1) and added 11.35 points to his diving score.

 

Man of the Week #2:  Sophomore Jude Smalley.  Great attendance.  Great work ethic.  Jude had drops in the 50 Free (1.46) and a monster drop of (33.65) in the 500 Free.
