News From the Pool                FEB 21

On Thursday we hosted OAA White rival Troy.

First place finishers:

 

200 Free - Mason Solecki

 

Diving - Ben O'Neill

 

Ben's 266.15 score in diving set a new team record for 6 dives.  He broke a 16-year-old record that was held by Matt Peychich.

 

Man of the Meet (Troy):  Junior Peter Merten.  Peter had an impressive 34.87 second time drop in the 500 Free on Thursday.

 

Man of the Meet (Troy):  Senior Jack Catchpole.  Jack has been working hard on deck for years making sure that everything is running smoothly behind the blocks.

 

Man of the Week:  Sophomore Chase Drouillard.  Chase is hard working and always pushing to get better.  Big things in store for him.

 

Man of the Week:  Junior Charlie Matthews.  Charlie has been training hard and really has stepped up work load this year!

 

 

On Saturday Ben O'Neill and Blake Vier went to Oxford for the Wildcat Diving Invitational.  

Ben scored a 368.45 in 11 dives that broke the school record of 366.95 that he set last year at the OAA Championships.  He also placed 4th at the meet.  Blake had an amazing showing finishing 17th in his first ever 11 dive meet

 

On Tuesday we will travel to Stoney Creek for our annual Swim Against Cancer Meet.

 

On Friday Oakland County Diving Championships will be held at Lake Orion.

 

On Saturday we will host Athens, Rochester, and Avondale as one of the satellite locations for Oakland County Swimming Championships.

On Tuesday we traveled to Lake Orion to take on this OAA Divisional rival.

100 Back:  Mason Solecki

 

Mason's time in the 100 Back was a MHSAA State Meet qualifying time and it also broke the school record that he already held.

 

Man of the Meet (LO):  Junior Ari Szarafinski - He had a drops in the 50 Free (1.49) and the 100 Free (1.98).

 

Man of the Meet (LO):  Sophomore Aden Dowdell - He had drops in 50 Free (.93) and a big 1:01.66 drop in the 500 Free.

100 Back:  Mason Solecki

 

Man of the Meet (Adams):  Junior Blake Vier.  Blake had drops in both the 50 Back and 50 Free.  He also added 6.4 points for a new best diving score!

 

Man of the Meet (Adams):  Junior Nathan Babbie.  Nathan had drops in the 50 Free and 100 Fly.  He was also on two 1st place relays (Medley and 200 Free).

 

Man of the Week:  Senior Noel King.  Noel had nice drops in the 500 (47.16), 100 FR (2.24), and 50 FR (.10).  He is making the most of his opportunities!

 

Man of the Week:  Junior Julio Jaime.  He had drops in the 200 FR (.62) and 100 FR (3.22) this week.  He never takes a swim off.  Such a hard worker.

 

Man of the Week:  Sophomore Xander Ballew.  He has really stepped up his training and it shows!  Drops in the 200 FR (3.59) and 100 FR (2.05) this week.

 

Next week we host OAA White Division rival Troy on Thursday.

On Thursday we traveled to Oxford for an OAA White Divisional Meet.

First place finishes:

Mason Solecki (12) - 100 FLY - Oakland County Automatic Qualifying Time

Mason Solecki (12) - 100 BACK - Oakland County Automatic Qualifying Time

 

Ben O'Neill (11) - DIVING

 

Man of the Meet #1 (Oxford):  Junior Hayden Forsythe.  Nice drop in 50 Free and solid diving performance.  He was 59 points better than his first meet last season.

 

Man of the Meet #2 (Oxford):  Sophomore Aiden Davis.  Impressive time drops in the 50 FR (2.85) and 100 FR (4.66).

 

Man of the Week #1:  Junior Brady Curtin.  Looking strong all week.  At Oxford had a 22 second drop in the 500 FR and a .97 drop in the 50 FR.

 

Man of the Week #2:  Senior Kyle Gordon.  Making the most of every swim.  At Oxford he had .79 drop in the 50 Back and 1.95 drop in the 100 FR.

 

 

Next week we have two home meets.  On Tuesday we will host Utica Ford and Ferndale for our Senior Night.  On Thursday we will host Berkley for an OAA White Divisional Meet.

Man of the Week #1- Sophomore Toby Buckheim. Looks great in the water, perfect attendance, and working hard. Looking to have a big year!

 

Man of the Week #2: Junior Kyle Strong. Looks smooth and powerful in the water. On deck he is quiet..... however, he actions in the pool speak loud!

 

The Captains for the 2020-2021 season are Matt Kaley, Peter Merten, Mason Solecki, and Tim Stanley

 

Next Week we will travel to Oxford on Thursday to take on this OAA White Division rival.
